Limberidis: Ceramic Art at the Heart of Greek Tradition

Limberidis, a household name in Greek ceramics, is a passionate and talented ceramist. Born in 1957 in Kastanies, Evros, Dimitris Limberidis studied ceramics at the liberal arts school of Kolymbari, Chania, under Michalis Tabakopoulos. He also enriched his knowledge in the workshops of Eutychis Pallikaris and K. Anastasakis, before setting up his own workshop in Chania in 1981.

A path to international recognition

Limberidis’ experience extends far beyond the Greek borders. As early as 1985, he became a permanent exhibitor at the Frankfurt International Fair, where he showcased his unique creations. He has also taken part in several major international exhibitions in Berlin, Ghent and Madrid, consolidating his international reputation. Since 1982, his work has been exported to Germany, and he has also made educational trips to Ireland, Cyprus and Italy, continually enriching his skills.

Tradition and Innovation: The Perfect Fusion of Limberidis

In 2009, Limberidis moved his studio to Kokkini Hani, Heraklion, where he created a combined studio and gallery space. This unique venue not only produces high-quality ceramic works, but also exhibits the creations of various artists. Within this framework, Limberidis has continued to create pieces that skilfully blend Cretan ceramic tradition with touches of modern innovation.

An Ambassador of Cretan Ceramics

In addition to his exhibitions and workshop, Limberidis is a member of several professional associations, including the Heraklion Chamber of Commerce and the “O Keramon” association, which works to preserve and promote Cretan ceramics. Through his outreach work and his passion for ceramic art, he continues to promote the richness and tradition of Cretan ceramics around the world.
