A morning at the Chania market
The experience takes place exclusively on Saturday mornings, the day of Chania’s big market. The route follows local life between cafés, bakeries and producers’ stalls.
The morning begins with a traditional Greek coffee and bougatsa. Then it’s off to the bakeries to discover koulouri and kalitsounia, an everyday Cretan staple.
Then, immersion in the market. Mountain cheeses, honey with wild herbs, local olives, fruit grown on the island… gradually, you discover the basics of the Cretan diet.
Finally, the walk continues with a typical grilled market speciality, before ending in a kafeneio over local wine and mezze.
