The Aegina ceramics course offers an authentic artistic experience, accessible to all. For 2 to 3 hours, you’ll immerse yourself in the world of Greek pottery alongside a passionate local craftswoman. This creative workshop allows you to discover an ancestral know-how while letting your imagination run free, in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
Suitable for private lessons, groups and families, this workshop is suitable for beginners as well as those with a first approach to ceramics.
A workshop led by an experienced local potter
The workshop is led by Maria, a professional potter with over 30 years’ experience based in Aegina. Her pedagogical and caring approach allows everyone to feel at ease, whatever their level.
Before getting down to the nitty-gritty, Maria offers an introduction to the history of pottery, from ancient Greece to contemporary practices. This contextualization adds an enriching cultural dimension to the experience.
Step-by-stepcreation of a ceramic object
After this introduction, it’s time to get creative. You’ll learn the pinching technique, an accessible traditional method for shaping a clay object such as a cup, bowl or small decorative piece.
Then you customize your creation using special ceramic colors, playing with shapes, textures and hues. Each participant creates a unique piece that reflects his or her own creativity.
For those who wish, an introduction to turning is also offered, to discover the essential gestures of lathe work.
