Origin and philosophy
Founded in 2000 by Anargyros Vardas and Maria Sgourou, Skoutari Olive Oil is a family-run operation located in Kritsa, in the Lasithi region of Crete. The name “Skoutari”, meaning “shield” in Greek, refers to the Cretan literary work “Erotokritos” and symbolizes the health protection offered by their olive oil.
Organic farming and sustainability
The olive groves cover almost 60 acres and are cultivated according to strictly organic farming practices. Early harvesting and cold pressing guarantee superior quality olive oil, rich in health-promoting polyphenols.
Awards and recognition
Skoutari Olive Oil has won several awards, including the gold medal at the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition 2024, underlining its commitment to excellence and quality.
