Pitenis

Producer of traditional mezzés

A story of passion and transmission

It all began in 1973 in Kozani, Western Macedonia, when Agamemnon Pitenis founded a small workshop dedicated to the production of traditional Greek salads. Buoyed by the success of its authentic recipes, the family business expanded rapidly. Over the decades, the founder’s four sons joined the adventure, proudly perpetuating the values of quality and innovation for which Pitenis is renowned.

Innovation for taste

Pitenis is constantly innovating to offer products that combine tradition and modernity. In 2004, the company set up “HHBT” (Hellenic Hepirus Bio-Technology R&D), a subsidiary dedicated to food biotechnology research, exploring in particular the synergies of herbs in food. This approach enables Pitenis to develop bio-functional products that meet the expectations of health-conscious consumers.

A rich and varied range

With over 200 references, Pitenis offers a wide range of gourmet products:

  • Salads and spreads: tzatziki, tarama, eggplant, spicy cheese.

  • Pickles and stuffed vegetables: gherkins, peppers, chillies.

  • Seafood: marinated fish and seafood under the “Okeanos” brand.

  • Sauces and condiments: saffron mayonnaise, vinaigrettes.

  • Vegan and bio-functional products: a range adapted to new food trends.

Each product is made with quality ingredients from the Mediterranean market, using processes that comply with international standards (ISO 22000, HACCP, BRC, IFS, HALAL).

International recognition

Pitenis’ excellence has been recognized by numerous awards:

  • Golden European Quality Award (1999)

  • Taste Olymp Awards (2017): gold medal for eggplant salad, spicy cheese salad and fish pastourma.

  • Superior Taste Award (2019): two gold stars for saffron mayonnaise.

These awards testify to Pitenis’ ongoing commitment to quality and innovation.
