La Cave de Platonie
Wine tasting in Crete
A story born of travel and encounters
La Cave de Platonie is the brainchild of Myriam, a passionate sommelier and wine merchant. Her journey began in France, near Lyon, and continued in Crete. Seduced by local gastronomy, indigenous grape varieties and the still little-known richness of Cretan wines, she decided to make them the focus of her commitment.
She loves meeting winemakers, tasting their wines, understanding their concerns and their way of working. She also travels to wine fairs and tastings, to offer you, during a meal in Chania, a real tour of Crete through its wines.
Her passion now extends far beyond this, as she also writes wine columns for an Athenian digital cultural newspaper.
Wine as a reflection of terroir
Myriam selects her wines with the utmost care, giving priority to organic, biodynamic and natural farming. Each bottle expresses the identity of the soil, the generosity of the Cretan climate and the respect of the winemakers. She likes to say enthusiastically: “Yes, the Cretans make wine! And good wine!”
She strives to make you feel the particularities of these wines, in particular through “blind” tasting, which allows everyone to experience the wine to the full. She likes to explain that without a label, the senses are awakened and the experience becomes personal and unique.
