In the heart of Thessaly, in Tírnavos, a house that has been transforming grapes and herbs into emblematic Greek distillates since 1856.

Ancestral roots in the land of Tírnavos

The story of Katsaros begins in 1856, in the Tírnavos region of Thessaly, where viticulture and the art of distillation are intertwined. Now in its fourth generation, the Katsaros family has preserved a secret recipe, one of the oldest ouzo distilleries in Greece, if not the world.

Know-how: terroir, distillation and rigour

The distillery is located in Tírnavos, in a region historically dedicated to viticulture. The Katsaros profile mentions a 6,000 m² space where “technology coexists in harmony with history and tradition”.
Equipment includes traditional copper stills, modern stainless steel tanks and an automated bottling line capable of bottling 2,000 bottles/hour.
With this juxtaposition of tradition (a recipe dating back to 1856) and controlled industrialization, Katsaros has embarked on an approach in which each product bears the care of several generations.
