Greek Keftedes

Keftedes are delicious minced meat balls flavored with herbs and spices. Perfect for an authentic Greek meal or to enjoy during a friendly aperitif.

Ingredients
  

  • 500 gr minced meat (beef or lamb)
  • 1/2 Red onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic crushed
  • 30 gr breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg slightly beaten
  • 2 T tablespoon fresh parsley chopped
  • 1 T tablespoon fresh mint chopped
  • 1 T teaspoon paprika
  • 1 T teaspoon cumin ground
  • 1/2 T teaspoon this
  • 1/4 T teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 T tablespoon Olive oil for cooking

Instructions
 

  • In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, red onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, parsley, mint, paprika, cumin, salt and pepper.
    500 gr minced meat, 1/2 Red onion, 2 cloves of garlic, 30 gr breadcrumbs, 1 egg, 2 T tablespoon fresh parsley, 1 T tablespoon fresh mint, 1 T teaspoon paprika, 1/2 T teaspoon this, 1/4 T teaspoon black pepper, 1 T teaspoon cumin
  • Knead the mixture well until you obtain a homogeneous consistency.
  • Form small balls with your hands and place them on a plate.
  • In a frying pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
    3 T tablespoon Olive oil
  • Add the meatballs, being careful not to overcrowd them.
  • Brown them on all sides until cooked through and slightly crispy, about 10-15 minutes.
  • Remove the meatballs from the pan and place them on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  • Serve the keftedes hot with tzatziki sauce, a Greek salad or as an accompaniment to a main dish.
